Privacy Policy
App: Where It All Adds Up ("Adds Up", "the app", "we"). Last updated: June 25, 2026.
The short version: Your math is solved on your device — typed problems never leave it.
We have no accounts and collect no personal information. The only data that leaves your
device is (1) a photo or word‑problem you choose to send to our AI helper for reading, and (2) optional,
anonymous usage stats. We don't sell data, show ads, or track you across other apps.
1. What stays on your device (most of the app)
- Typed math problems are solved entirely on your device by an in‑app math engine (Pyodide/SymPy). They are not sent anywhere and are not stored by us.
- Your progress, history, and settings are saved only in your device's local storage. They stay on your device, we cannot see them, and you can clear them anytime in the app or your browser settings.
2. What leaves your device — only when you choose it
- Photo / Graph / Word‑problem features (AI): when you use these, the image or text you submit is sent to Google's Gemini API (through our secure server proxy) solely to convert it into a math problem the app can solve. We do not store these images or texts on our servers; Google processes them under its own terms (see Third parties). Don't submit photos containing personal or sensitive information you don't want processed.
- Anonymous usage analytics (optional): if enabled, we record anonymous events such as app opens and which features are used (e.g. "a quadratic was solved") via PostHog. This includes no names, emails, accounts, or the content of your problems — only a random, anonymous identifier so we can understand overall usage and improve the app. It contains no personal information.
3. What we do NOT do
- No user accounts, logins, names, or email collection.
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data.
- No cross‑app or cross‑site tracking; no advertising identifiers.
4. Third‑party services
5. Children's privacy
This is a study tool that may be used by students, including children. The app requires no account and
collects no personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Math is
processed on‑device and analytics are anonymous. If you believe a child has provided personal information,
contact us and we will address it.
6. Your choices
- Clear your data: reset progress in the app, or clear the site/app data in your browser or device settings — this removes everything stored locally.
- Avoid the AI features if you prefer nothing leaves your device — all typed solving, the dual USA/Japan methods, Teach mode, and practice work fully offline without them.
7. Data retention
On‑device data persists until you clear it. We do not retain your problems or images on our servers.
Anonymous analytics events, if enabled, are retained by PostHog per their standard retention.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app.
